We create, design and deliver swimwear with the environment in mind, always.

We want to be completely transparent about out manufacturing processes and for you to understand what is involved in the creation of these beautiful sustainable swimsuits.

FABRIC

We use regenerated Italian fabrics using ECONYLⓇ yarn which is made from the highest quality fabrics derived from 100% regenerated materials. Pretty epic right!? It still blows our minds.

These regenerated materials are; plastic bottles, fishing nets, fabric scraps, industrial plastic from landfills and ocean plastic waste... Which is then transformed back into virgin raw material without any loss of quality. Also known as 'up-cycling'.

This helps to reduce the amount of global waste by collecting it from landfills and oceans, then feeding it back into production cycles.

MANUFACTURING

We use ethical manufacturing processes to ensure that today's planet is respected. Every process involved is done in the most environmentally friendly way we can; from sourcing right through to our collections coming to life.

Our manufacturing is done in Australia. All our swimsuits are hand-made with love and ethical fair trade practices. You can rest easy knowing that all of our team is paid fairly in Australia and all work in a fantastic environment.

With ongoing research into new technology fabrics and processes, we hope to guide you to a more sustainable future.

PACKAGING

We are proud to keep our packaging as minimal and low-impact as we can, but we know that there is no perfect solution to this. Your sustainable swimwear is packaged with recycled plastic zip lock bags to keep your swimwear air-tight and dry. This bag is yours to keep as a reusable bag; we encourage you to use it to store your wet swimwear until you are home and able to hand-wash it.

Our black mailer bag is 100% biodegradable and it is up to you to dispose of it in your compost bin. Please do not put them in the rubbish because chances are, they will end up in the landfill, and may never have the opportunity to properly biodegrade.

Our tissue paper is printed using soy-based inks, that's right baby, no toxins. You will be happy to know that you can shred the tissue paper and put it in your compost bin for biodegrading! Or if you prefer, you can recycle it.

Our hygiene stickers are currently making the switch from plastic to paper which we are very excited about! If you do get our new paper ones, you will be able to recycle these.

Our hang tags are on the way out! We have made the decision to keep our packing to a minimum moving forward. As nice as they look, they are adding more unnecessary cardboard and string to your life, which is a big no from us!

We are always looking for new initiatives for our packaging as well as our over-all practices. If you do have feedback or suggestions, we would love to hear them! Email: contact@saltlabel.co.nz

TAKE BACK INITIATIVE

We strongly believe we are responsible for what we produce and that it doesn’t end up as waste. Our values are based on cleaning up the ocean, not contributing to it. We design with the entire lifecycle in mind, and can ensure full circularity.

CARBON OFF-SET INITIATIVES

Our love for the planet doesn't stop at just the fabric... Thats why we also invest in programs that offset the emissions we've created. To help fight climate change, we've partnered with Carbon Click based in Auckland, New Zealand.

CarbonClick looks like a green button at checkout. When you click it, $2 is added to your basket which purchases carbon offsets. These offsets reduce the environmental impact of the carbon emissions related to your purchase. CarbonClick's offsets fund forest restoration, tree planting, and renewable energy projects around the world. We’re proud to be part of the fight against climate change.

We’ll be making our own contributions, and changing our practices to reduce our carbon footprint. This means your salt swimwear is carbon-neutral! We are doing everything we can to deliver a product with the lowest possible impact.   We hope you’ll join us in creating a sustainable future, by choosing to CarbonClick with your purchase.

We often have people ask, what is carbon off-setting?The actions we take (like driving a car) and the things we buy create carbon emissions. Our emissions come from our manufacture sending us products through freight and having delivery drivers and planes get you your purchase. On the other side, things like planting trees take carbon out of the atmosphere. Carbon offsets are a measure of the benefits created by carbon-reduction projects. By buying them, you neutralise your emissions!

SUSTAINABLE COASTLINES

Here at Salt Label, we want to spread awareness to the threat our coastlines, oceans and waterways are under. That's why we have partnered with Sustainable Coastlines right here in New Zealand. From every order you place, we donate $1 to help Sustainable Coastlines with their mission.

They organise beach clean-ups to prevent litter, they also do a lot of planting of shrubs and trees, as well as education to restore fresh waterways. Amounts all of that, they even have a litter intelligence program which focuses on data, insights and actions for a litter-free Aotearoa.

We highly encourage you to support this cause and learn more about what they do by clicking here
