Our Autumn Obsessions

The leaves are falling and the days are starting with an early morning chill as we dive into Autumn - the season of cozy nights in, changing colours, and feijoas. Although we miss our long Summer days spent in the sea, our latest obsessions are making our Autumn nights that much sweeter.

A list of all the things we’re loving right now...

Reading - Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

Where The Crawdads Sing Book Cover

To put it simply, this is my new favourite book. Where The Crawdads Sing is an endearing coming of age story that explores the concepts of love, family, privilege, nature and so much more. It is insightful, heartbreaking, intelligent, and kind. Some say it is one of those books that you either love it or hate it - I honestly can’t see how anyone could hate it. From the moment I picked it up I was drawn into the story of Kya and her beautiful connection with the wilderness. If you couldn’t tell already, I adore this piece of art by Delia Owens and I couldn’t recommend it more.

Doing - Movies at the cinema

Old fashioned cinema

Sometimes I forget how nice it is to go and watch a movie at my local cinema. It’s something I’m starting to do more of and I am absolutely loving it. And there are so many beautiful movies screening at the moment - everything from comedy to romance. It’s a fun activity to do with your besties, partner, parents, or even yourself. You’ve got to get the full cinema experience though. I’m talking popcorn, lollies, and anything else you can fit in your handbag.

Beautiful things - WestCoast Stoneware

There’s nothing quite like sipping a hot beverage to warm your insides on a cold morning, right? I recently came across the beautiful pottery brand WestCoast Stoneware and I’m obsessed. They have the most divine keep cups (I seriously want them all), and little oil burners to ‘enhance your everyday life’, as they would say. Handmade in Raglan, their bespoke pieces are the perfect addition to your morning coffee run.

Feijoa Crumble

One thing I love about Autumn is that it’s feijoa season. I love using these tasty green fruits  to make a delicious crumble. Top it off with a drizzle of cream and serve in your favourite WestCoast Stoneware bowl for the perfect combo of wholesomeness. Here is a recipe from the Love Food Hate Waste Blog.
